Can the Microbiome Become a Standard Component of Precision Oncology?

Meriem Messaoudene, INSERM/Gustave Roussy, France

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Meriem Messaoudene, from the University of Montreal, Canada, will join 13th World Congress on Targeting Microbiota - ISM 2026 as a speaker.

The gut microbiome plays a critical role in shaping antitumor immunity and influencing responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors. Our research focuses on developing microbiome-centered interventions to overcome resistance and improve cancer immunotherapy outcomes. Through clinical and translational studies and preclinical models, we investigate therapeutic strategies, including fecal microbiota transplantation, microbiome-derived compounds, and targeted microbial interventions, to modulate host immunity and restore sensitivity to immunotherapy. These approaches aim to translate microbiome discoveries into innovative therapeutic strategies for patients with cancer.
