Gut Microbiota and Cardiovascular Aging: Mechanisms and Strategies

Soheil Saeedi, Group Leader and Head of Cardiovascular Aging Lab, University of Zurich, Switzerland

Dr. Soheil Saeedi is the Leader of the Cardiovascular Aging Research Group, where his work focuses on uncovering the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive aging in the cardiovascular system, particularly the senescence of endothelial cells and perivascular adipose tissue. His research explores how redox imbalance and gut microbiota-derived metabolites contribute to vascular aging, using state-of-the-art approaches including multi-omics, chemogenetics, and studies involving aging human cohorts. Dr. Saeedi will present his recent work, "Gut Microbiota and Cardiovascular Aging: Mechanisms and Strategies," which delves into the emerging concept of gut-vascular crosstalk in aging. He will highlight the role of specific microbial metabolites in promoting vascular senescence and discuss promising therapeutic strategies aimed at targeting this axis to support healthy aging.
